Tie dye Masks

This has been such a strange moment in history! Covid, masks, quarantine…

So, we figured if we need to wear masks, let’s have fun with them!! So we decided on tie dye!

Supplies:

  • White Masks
  • Colored Sharpie pens
  • Alcohol
  • Eye dropper
  • Cardboard or cutting board or something to put under your mask to protect your working surface

Color the surface: you can create polka dots, stripes, or just color in sections. It’s important that you color each section well (use a lot of color or leave any white spaces on your mask). If you color too lightly then the mask will be more pale when it is finished.

When you have finished coloring in your mask then begin dripping alcohol on it with an eyedropper. As you drip the alcohol on then the color will spread to create a tie dye effect.

Coat the entire part of your mask that you colored with alcohol.

Set aside to dry for 24 hours.

Wash on a short cycle with cool water and detergent. Hang to dry.

Once your mask is dry it’s ready to go!!

I hope your new mask adds a little color to these quarantined days!
