Snowman White Hot Chocolate

My daughter’s favorite winter treat is white hot chocolate! She definitely prefers it over classic hot chocolate. It is a fun treat and a nice change to the classic drink. Give it a try over your holidays.

It is even more fun if you turn it into an adorable snowman!

To make your own Snowman White hot chocolate, you will need:

  • 4 cups of Milk
  • 6 ounces of high quality White Chocolate (I like Lindt) grated
  • a Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 tsp of Pure Vanilla extract or 1 small Cinnamon stick
  • 1 large Saucepan
  • Large chocolate chips
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream

Begin by making your snowman nose. Melt your orange melting chocolates in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Stir after each interval. Be careful not to overheat. When it has started melting, stir vigorously to allow it to continue to melt without heating it.

To make your nose:

Drop a small round drop of orange melting chocolate onto wax paper. Use a small spoon to drag the chocolate out into a small carrot shape. I like to draw my nose on the backside of the wax paper and just fill it in with a spoon. Then I am more certain the shape will turn out how I like!

When your nose is dry, you can begin making your hot chocolate.

Pour 2 of the 4 cups of milk into a large saucepan. Add your 6 ounces of grated white chocolate. Whisk until the milk begins to steam and the White chocolate is melted and well blended with the milk. Add your pinch of salt. Add your vanilla or cinnamon stick at this point. They each add a unique touch. Maybe make two batches and try both! We like it with a little cinnamon kick, but I most often make it with vanilla for guests. Add the second 2 cups of milk and whisk until blended. Heat until it reaches the desired temperature. Do not boil. Pour your White hot Chocolate into 4 of your favorite seasonal mugs.

With a pastry bag, pipe on your whipped cream. Add your snowman carrot nose, large chocolate chip eyes and a mini chocolate chip mouth.

Enjoy! This is a family favorite. We enjoy serving at holiday parties or just enjoying a cup on a cold winter’s evening.
