A Sunny Baby Shower

You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are grey. You’ll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away.

Joy. What a perfect name for a sunshine baby. And this polka dot red velvet white chocolate cake was perfect for the Mommy-to-be, who loves all things polka dot! “You are my sunshine” theme is one the sweetest baby shower themes! What baby doesn’t bring a little sunshine (and maybe a few clouds, LOL) into their new parent’s lives?! I love the aqua, yellow and light grey color scheme.

As everyone arrived there were a few activities to keep them busy while they waited for the other guests, and the party to officially begin. One activity was a photo booth with sunny photos with Mamma. The other was writing silly notes on the diapers for Mommy and Daddy to read while they change the 100th diaper at the end of each day!

One of the sweetest activities were these adorable board books that I found at Oriental trading company. I decorated the front and back in theme and then each friend wrote a sweet note for Joy and her Mamma.

Parties are all about the details! I love the little touches that make people feel pampered and special. Like these adorable water bottles that I made for each guest. The ladies loved them so much they even brought them home.

My favorite way to do baby showers is over a relaxing brunch. We played games, ate brunch, prayed for the Mommy to be and just chatted and enjoyed each other’s company. I like to plan a few fun games, but keep it mellow. Not everyone loves games, and people do not love to be embarrassed. A really great activity that truly blesses new Moms and Dad is throwing a diaper raffle. Ask each person to bring a pack of diapers. For each pack they bring they get a ticket. At the end of the party, draw a ticket. Make sure to have an extra special prize for this activity!

The favorite game of the day was baby pictionary. There was a jar full of words having to do with babies, pregnancy and birth. Each lady drew a word and then had to draw for their team (some were all play). It was hilarious. We laughed a lot and enjoyed some healthy competition.

Here are some of the Sunshine Printables from the party. Advice for mom and Dad, raffle tickets for the diaper raffle, photo props, wishes for baby and decorative signs for the brunch table.

What was a game you played and actually enjoyed at a baby shower?!
