The Lion King

Who is excited to see the Lion King live action film coming out today?!

I always loved the music from the Lion King. I memorized all the songs when I was younger, so I was excited to take the kids to see the new version.

To celebrate the release of this classic movie turned live action, we decided to have a mini Lion King Party! Complete with cute themed snacks and crafts.

Isn’t this Lion cracker plate too cute? The kids love making their own cracker sandwiches with the cheese and crackers, but were bummed to take apart Simba’s face (LOL)! We made and easy Lion craft too.

All you need is:

  • Lightweight white paper plates
  • Yellow paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Yellow construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Black marker for the face

Begin by painting your plate yellow. While you wait for your plate to dry cut out LOTS of rectangle strips of the yellow construction paper. You can choose what length you would like them, just make sure you have enough of each length. We used about 60 three inch strips to make one Lion head. Next cut out your lion ears.

When your paint is dry glue your strips around the border of the plate. You can overlap them and add layers in order to create texture and depth. Glue the ears onto the top of the face.

Draw your Lion face onto the plate. You can make him happy if he is Simba, or scary if you want to make Scar. Let your kids get creative and make their own Lion faces.

They make cute little masks!

Then go and see the movie! It is so good! We loved the music and the graphics were beautiful! Happy movie going!

Let me know if you liked the film, or prefer the original cartoon version?!
