Happy Fall, Y’all!

Fall is my favorite season. I love to watch the leaves change color and the air turn crisp. I love the smell of fireplaces beginning to be turned on. I love the air in the morning is crisp and fresh, waking you up for a new day, but that it is warm and sunny in the afternoon, making you feel cozy. I love the Fall sun… not too hot, not too cold. I could lay on a blanket under the Fall trees for hours reading a book or just listening to the leaves rustle in the wind.

Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.

Every Fall I like to choose a color scheme. And I try to decorate my house a little. Although I often have to get creative, because you still cannot find a lot of items here in Italy. This year I chose pale green, pale orange, and grey… and buffalo plaid! It is soft and cozy and I love it. I began by painting this adorable pumpkin to match my buffalo plaid pillows and table runner.

There are no white pumpkins here in Italy. Or green ones. Or pastel ones. In fact, only recently have I been able to even find pumpkins. . .we’re talking only the last 4 or 5 years. So when I decided last year that I wanted my Fall decor to be white and beige, I decided to spray paint my pumpkins white! And it worked perfectly!!

This year I wanted to try something a little more challenging and so I thought I would paint a pumpkin to match my table runner and decorate another with my munchkin who loves crafting as much as I do.

You’ll need:

  • Sharpie
  • Black, grey and white paint
  • A white pumpkin (or spray paint a pumpkin white for the base)

We had so much fun that I think we are going to start the tradition of a Pumpkin decorating party, instead of a Pumpkin carving party!! Show me your creations!
