Twix Snack Bites

Do you have a favorite candy? I am not partial to “candy”, but I do love chocolate, especially dark chocolate, or a chocolate bar/treat that balances sweet and salty. Overly sweet treats can tend to be nauseating. These candy bars are just the right amount of sweet. They are similar to Twix bars, but slightly less sweet. They are so good! They are seriously addictive! I promise you will love them.

Start by making my perfect caramel recipe. Allow the caramel to cool completely. If you want the caramel to be more chewy and solid, you can leave out a tablespoon or 1/2 a tablespoon of butter and refrigerate it at least overnight before using it!

Take your refrigerated caramel out and place a small spoonful between two Ritz crackers. Chill in the freezer for approximately 10 minutes.

In the meantime melt your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second intervals until the chocolate begins to melt. Make sure to stir after each interval. Do not overheat it or it can burn or seize. Heat just until it is melted and then stir to complete the melting process. I like to use a combination of milk and dark chocolate (1:1 ratio).

Dip your cracker into the melted chocolate until it is coated and then tap off any excess. I love to use my wilton dipping tools for this step! They are super handy and help you to coat the cracker evenly.

Place your chocolate coated cracker onto wax paper to dry. I like to add a few chocolate sprinkles, heart sprinkles and mini chocolate chips just for decoration. Allow them to set completely.

Because the caramel will tend to start melting when it is warmed up, you can put wax paper on a tray or plate and once you have set your crackers on the wax paper, place them in the refrigerator to keep them cool while they set.

They are a great treat for a dessert tray, food board, cookie plate, or dessert table at your event. Your guests will gobble them up! I promise!

Enjoy!
