Chocolate Roses

Does your sweetheart prefer roses or chocolate?

These adorable chocolate roses are the best of both worlds!!

And so easy to make! You just need a few simple items:

  • Chocolates with a soft center (I used Baci Perugina)
  • Pink or Red tissue Paper
  • Green Tissue Paper
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Tape
  • Scissors

This video will give you a quick view of how to put them together…

Begin by putting the chocolates onto your cake pop sticks. Push them in gently, about half way into the chocolate. Be careful not to push too hard or fast and smush the chocolate. If the stick does not go in easily, don’t keep pushing. Use the tip of a sharp knife to start the hole and then use the cake pop stick to push it the rest of the way in.

Next cut out your green leaves. You want to cut circles with a 5 inch diameter from your green tissue paper and then cut leaves all the way around your circle. I used 3 layers of leaves for each rose. Set aside.

Next wrap your chocolate in the pink tissue paper. You want a piece of tissue paper that is approximately 6 inches wide and 12 inches long. Fold the paper in half length-wise so that your paper is 3 inches wide. Begin wrapping it around your chocolate. Start by pulling the paper tight and high around the chocolate and slowly move downwards towards the stick loosening the paper slightly. You want to wrap at an angle. Secure the base of the paper around the stick with scotch tape.

Slide your leaves up around the base of the rose by poking a small hole into the center. The width of the pink tissue paper should hold the leaves in place. But if you are worried about them slipping use a drop of hot glue just under your leaves to secure it in place.

It sounds more complicated than it is. Watch the video to get a better idea. They were fun to make and a sweet idea for teachers, grandma or your bestie.

They are also a super sweet idea for Mother’s day!

Have fun creating!
